Description

What’s In a Firework Plunger Start

Plunger Start uses a classic detonator-style plunger. It’s the kind you’ve seen in films. You press it down firmly to send the signal that starts your show. It’s a safe, purely ceremonial trigger, connected to our firing system. The actual ignition is still handled by our qualified pyrotechnicians behind the scenes.

Why Choose a Traditional Plunger Firework Start?

A firework plunger start like this suits couples who want a genuine hands-on moment at the start of their display. It beats simply watching from the sidelines as it begins. It photographs particularly well. It also gives you and your partner a shared moment to trigger together. Many couples ask a parent or best man to press the plunger instead. It becomes a shared moment for someone else close to them on the day.

How It Works on the Night

Plunger Start is set up and demonstrated by our BPA-qualified, fully insured pyrotechnicians before the display begins. You’ll know exactly what to expect, and when to press it. We’re proud members of the British Pyrotechnists Association. The plunger itself is fully safety-tested equipment, not a decorative prop, and it’s checked thoroughly and carefully before every single display we ever run.

Plunger Start works with any of our wedding firework displays, traditional or low-noise. It’s simply a ceremonial trigger, rather than a firework effect in its own right. If you’d prefer a single button instead of a plunger, take a look at Red Button Start. It gives you exactly the same hands-on moment, just presented in a different, more modern format that some couples genuinely prefer. Both options cost the same, so it really comes down to personal preference.
