Wedding proposal

We recently had the pleasure of being part of something truly special at Shuttleworth House. What started as an enquiry for a 21st birthday celebration turned into a heartwarming and unforgettable proposal.

Alfie, the boyfriend of birthday girl Tia, got in touch with us with an idea that went beyond your typical fireworks display. He wanted to create a moment that would not only wow the guests but leave Tia speechless—and he certainly succeeded.

His plan? To have a red carpet walkway leading to a big red button, which Tia would press to launch the fireworks. But that wasn’t all. After the display dazzled the sky, Alfie wanted a five-second pause… and then a surprise like no other.

We got to work on something called lancework—a handcrafted wooden frame fitted with specially coloured flares (called lances), designed to light up in specific shapes or messages. It’s something we often use in our wedding displays, usually to create hearts and initials, but this time it was something even more meaningful.

His message?

TIA, WILL YOU MARRY ME?

On the night, we carefully set up the fireworks and kept the lancework hidden until just the right moment.

As guests gathered outside, Tia and Alfie walked hand-in-hand down the red carpet. They counted down together and—boom!—the fireworks lit up the sky in a burst of colour and sparkle. The crowd “oooh’d” and “aaah’d” through the display, completely unaware of what was coming next.

Then, a brief hush.

And suddenly, in glowing letters:

TIA WILL YOU MARRY ME?

Gasps echoed all around, family and friends in awe, as Alfie dropped to one knee.

We’re absolutely thrilled to say—she said yes! A beautiful, unique proposal and a night to remember for everyone there. We’ve even heard whispers that fireworks will play a big part in the wedding too.

Congratulations, Alfie and Tia. Wishing you both a lifetime of love, laughter, and plenty more sparkle.
